SgWX Water Utilities Series – Uncovering Water Opportunities in Bangladesh
It brings us great pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to our next edition of SgWX Water Utilities Series, online at the comfort of your computer, on Wednesday, 30 Jun 2021, 2 to 3.30pm.
Bangladesh is a densely populated country with 168 million people. The WHO estimates that 97% of the people of Bangladesh have access to water but only 40% have proper sanitation. The availability of water fluctuates throughout the year, with the warmer season bringing large amounts of water in frequent monsoons and the cooler season bringing drought. The Government is trying to improve rainwater capture and access to safe drinking water. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about added challenges. Now more than ever, having access to safe water is critical to the health of Bangladeshis.
The World Bank supports initiatives and provides funding to promote regional collaboration to improve water resources management in Bangladesh. This webinar presents the water challenges faced by Bangladesh and the opportunities for infrastructure improvement and technology deployment to tackle these challenges.
The speakers are Mr Taqsem Khan is the Managing Director and CEO of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) and Ms Sultana Afroz, Honorable Secretary and CEO of Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), Bangladesh.
We hope you can lock this date and time in your calendar and join us for a robust discussion online!
